Sew & Tell - Fumiko's Pouches

f0194450_645563.jpgIt's nothing new that we fabric lovers always have scraps of fabric growing in our stashes. I save everything even a teeny tiny piece hoping to make a stamp patchwork quilt someday, but if you don't quilt, pouches are great items for your scraps. A fabric lover Fumiko cleans her fabric bins this way. As a mother of a 3 years old, small pouches come in very handy to organize little things. They are cute and you don't have to waste a ziplock plastic bag. Thank you always, Fumiko!

A New Ironing Board Cover

f0194450_722433.jpgYay, I finished my new ironing board cover! Until then this was a very very sad ironing board in both the looks and the quality. I added an extra batting from my scraps and covered it with a cheerful floral print. It's super easy to make. Here is what you do...using the old cover as a template, cut the fabric and fold the edge twice to make a casing. Leave about a half inch for an opening. Insert the string (that came with the old cover) through the casing and you're done.
f0194450_8352863.jpgThe result is making me so happy that I organized my linen closet and made a little mobile sewing/craft station. This cart was doing nothing but collecting the dust in my son's room and it has the perfect width for the closet. I was so happy to discover this. I removed the lowest shelf...and voila! the cart perfectly fits with my two sewing machines on top. I will eventually make the linen closet as a sewing/craft storage moving all the linen to the dresser I got yesterday. It'll be so nice...

Photoshooting

f0194450_7493254.jpgThere was a little photoshooting at Peapod just the other day. It was cool to see. When a photographer, Leigh Beisch contacted me for the shoot, I automatically thought it was for a cook book and wonder why at Peapod. Well, she is an expert on food photos, and I know she was working on her new dessert book using lots of Peapod's fabrics (can't wait to see this book). Clueless me, of course it was for a new quilt book. It will be out sometime next Spring. I can't wait to see this book either.

Sew & Tell - Jennifer's Bat Mobile

f0194450_862529.jpgYou wonder what these little guys are? Well, they are bats, and this is a bat mobile that Jennifer created. They are the cutest bats I've ever seen (well, I thought those 3 guys with the wings folded were fish at first :-). Who would think of a bat as a mobile? What a fun idea! They even got featured on the top page of Etsy, and they received over 1000 hits. It is still available here. Thanks, Jennifer!

Sew & Tell - Christina's Quilt

f0194450_814309.jpgChristina did it! She made her very first quilt. It took about uhhh...2 years? I remember that back then I asked her if she had any quilt or throw blanket on her couch, and she said no. I said, "EVERY COUCH HAS TO HAVE A QUILT. " I mean how do you get comfy without a quilt on the couch? That's the most cuddly thing in the whole wide world. And it dresses up a couch too. So she picked the fabrics, cut them, pieced them, tied them, bound them, and... here she has it. It really looks great. She loved so much making it that she now making one for her mom. Thanks Christina!

Sew & Tell - Shinobu's Beddings Retaken

f0194450_845645.jpgShinobu was so kind that she let me take pictures of her and her daughter's new beddings last week. Her house was still in progress as she waits for a new couch to arrive, but it looked fresh and clean just like her new beddings. Thank you, Shinobu!
f0194450_885599.jpgMore Peapod's fabrics... some blankets she made on a quilt rack.
